Website Design for Education

While working as UX/UI designer at Bitwise Industries in the Custom Software Department, I was responsible for the design of the Secrets Unsealed app. This app was developed to enhance spiritual growth and provide a personalized Bible study experience.

The app was built with customization in mind, giving users tools to tailor their study sessions, such as the ability to edit text, adjust font sizes, highlight key passages, and add personal notes. For users who prefer physical study materials, the app also allows for the purchase of printed versions of available books. Designed for both Android and iOS platforms, the app provides a smooth and intuitive experience for Bible study enthusiasts, scholars, and anyone looking to deepen their scriptural knowledge.

Objectives

• Create a user-friendly app that empowers users to personalize their Bible studies.
• Incorporate a range of study tools like text editing, font adjustments, highlighting, and note-taking.
• Offer exclusive On-Demand content for subscribers, enhancing their study experience.
• Allow users to purchase printed materials directly from the app.
• Integrate a seamless payment system for subscriptions and book purchases.

Strategy

As the sole designer involved in this project, I focused on creating an intuitive and accessible app that could be used by a diverse range of users—from beginners to advanced Bible students. The design process centered on simplicity, clarity, and the ease of navigating large amounts of content.

User-Centered Design

I began by structuring the app into clear sections: Study Resources, Pastor Bohr’s Notes, Health Articles, Youth Articles, SUMTV, and On-Demand Content. This layout provided easy navigation while ensuring that users could quickly access the resources they needed. The user interface (UI) was kept minimalistic, allowing the content to take center stage without overwhelming the user. Each feature was designed to enhance the user experience, from customizing study notes to offering multiple font sizes for easy readability.

Customization Features

One of the key aspects of the app was offering users the ability to:

• Edit text within the app, enabling them to take personal notes or adjust passages for their own understanding.
• Adjust font sizes, ensuring that users with different visual needs could comfortably read the content.
• Highlight and annotate passages, making it easier to mark key scriptures or ideas for future reference.
• Search keywords across Pastor Bohr’s study notes, which made finding specific topics or sections quick and efficient.

Results

The launch of the Secrets Unsealed app was met with positive reception from the community. The feedback highlighted the app’s ease of use, its customizable study tools, and the wide variety of content available for users.

 

Community Growth Through Sharing Features

The app’s built-in sharing functions encouraged users to spread the word about the app, leading to an increase in downloads through word-of-mouth recommendations. The community engagement features helped grow the app’s user base, with many users inviting friends and family to explore the app.

Offline Usability

The ability to download resources for offline access was particularly well-received. This feature allowed users to continue their studies without needing an internet connection, which was especially important for users in remote areas or those who travel frequently.

Overall, the Secrets Unsealed app successfully met its objectives by providing users with a customizable, user-friendly Bible study tool that could be tailored to their specific needs. By combining modern technology with traditional study practices, the app became a valuable resource for spiritual growth.
